A xylographical study on the Hwaltuchimsun (üÀ÷ßöÝàÊ: Manual for usualadaptability) in Bangyakhappyeon (Û°å·ùêøº: Compilation of prescriptions and medicines)

Abstract
¡¶Bangyakhappyeon(Û°å·ùêøº)¡· was written by Hwang Do-Yeon (üÜÓøæÐ) and his son Hwang Pil-Soo (üÜù²â³) in the late days of Chosun Dynasty, when the country was in a state of social confusion by the first introduced western civilization and invasion of the foreign powers. In response to this situation where realistic knowledge and solution was of importance than theological review, Hwang and his son wrote the book to satisfy the needs. The book, ¡¶Bangyakhappyeon(Û°å·ùêøº)¡· furthered new publishment of abstract asian medical science in a more compact form, emphasizing more realistic means of it. This new publishment were a significant counter-measure to cope with the inflow of practical western medicine, which the move has moreover enhanced popularization of Han Medicine(ùÛì¢ùÊ). After reviewing ¡¶Bangyakhappyeon(Û°å·ùêøº)¡· in xylographical approach, I have acquired conclusions as below.
